Three trim levels are available: CX, CXL and CXS. The base CX gets a choice of 17-inch steel or alloy wheels, while the two upper levels get 18-inch rolling stock and the CXS Touring package adds 19-inch hoops along with an adaptive damping system.

At launch, the CX and CXL come standard with the new 3.0-liter direct injected V6, while the 3.6-liter DI V6 is optional on the CXL and standard on the CXS. Later this fall, the 2.4-liter DI four-cylinder will be added as the standard engine in the CX and CXL, the only such engine currently available in the segment.

Performance
Nimnicht Buick GMC offers three engine options for the 2010 Buick Lacrosse. The standard engine is a 2.4-liter inline-4 capable of 182 horsepower and 172 lb-ft of torque. Its fuel efficiency ratings reach 19 city/30 highway.

Next is a 3.0-liter V6 available on the CX and CXL trim level that’s good for 255 horsepower and 217 lb-feet of torque, with EPA estimates of 17 city/26 highway. Finally, a powerful 3.6 V6 is available on the CXS, sporting 280 horsepower and 259 lb-ft of torque at 4,800 rpm that has the same city fuel efficiency and gains an additional mile per gallon on the highway.

With any of the engines equipped, the Buick LaCrosse can tow up to 1,000 lbs.

Safety
The 2010 Buick LaCrosse comes standard with anti-lock brakes, which automatically sense when a tire has stopped rotating under extreme braking, and will modulate the brake pressure to allow the tire to rotate. This increases the vehicles ability to turn while braking.

Also, stability control is included, which senses when the vehicles handling limits have been exceeded and reduces engine power and/or applies select brakes to help prevent the driver from losing control of the vehicle.

Front-impact airbags, side impact airbags and overhead airbags are also included, as well as pretensioners which will tighten seatbelts to place the occupant in the optimal seating position during a collision.

The vehicle is equipped with a means of anticipating and/or detecting unwanted vehicle intrusion. The Enclave is equipped with an ignition disable device that will prevent the engine from starting if the correct original manufacturer key is not used.

Interior Design

The top of the dashboard, door panels and instrument cluster hood are covered in the sew and stitch leather normally reserved for the Cadillac brand, and it isn’t exclusive to the range-topping models – it’s included as standard across the range. All LaCrosse models also have leather-covered shifters and steering wheels, with the latter benefiting from a thick, easy-to-grip rim outfitted with controls for the audio system.

While some customers prefer a touch interface for the navigation and audio systems, others prefer a traditional knob arrangement. To cater to as many consumers as possible, Buick provides both setups in the LaCrosse, with most of the controls accessible via the screen or a knob directly below. And for the tech adventurous, most of the systems are also accessible through voice commands by pressing a button on the steering wheel.
